There’s no way to sugar coat this.
People who quit are quitters.
There’s no glory in quitting
Quitters aren’t heroes.
The hero is the one who stays in the game.
Theodore Roosevelt said it well. It’s the person who “stays in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood; who strives valiantly; who errs, who comes short again and again, because there is no effort without error and shortcoming; but who does actually strive to do the deeds; who knows great enthusiasms, the great devotions; who spends herself or himself in a worthy cause; who at the best knows in the end the triumph of high achievement, and who at the worst, if they fail, at least fails while daring greatly, so that their place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who neither know victory nor defeat.”
That’s a hero.
And that desire to stay in the arena, to strive and strive and strive again… that’s part of our humanity… that’s in our DNA. And without it, our world would be a very different place.
But… like everything, there’s an edge to it.
