Grow & Scale A Business That Will Set You Free
Punished. Spanked Even.
A hall pass is valuable in high school.
Not so much in real life.
In real life, you can end up punished. Spanked even.
Exercise, diet, meditation… writing, making art, building a new career… the things we say we want to do… the things we say that we commit to doing… often go off the rails when life gets in the way.
And then we give ourselves a pass.
Which is ok.
Except… life always gets in the way. There are always things that come up.
And… actually… life doesn’t get in the way.
Life is the way.
So “passes” tend to backfire…
When you’re in the habit of giving yourself a pass, you never really get the momentum you want (and deserve) in those things that matter most to you. And when you finally do get back to those things, you suffer needlessly.
Better to dial in your core practices and disciplines as non-negotiables… things you do no matter what. Better to create your life around those things that matter most, rather than looking for loopholes.
Because it’s the slow, steady, consistent steps over time that lead to that life you dream of.
You Remind Me Of An Earthworm
Well perhaps that’s a bit harsh.
But you do share an important commonality with an earthworm.
Just sayin.’
There’s so much cool science around peak performance.
But this one tip can significantly increase your focus, your acuity, your energy, and your resiliency…
And frankly, it’s so simple that even an earthworm can do it.
Focus on this one thing first!
Don’t Spread This Fake News
I was naked.
That part is true.
But just for a couple of minutes.
There is, however, some very troubling fake news that you’ll surely want to take note of.
When you take one, take a real one. Not a fake one.
You’ll rest; rejuvenate; recover; re-create.
You’ll come back energized and on fire; ready to take on the world again.
A fake one just won’t do that for you.
What Will You Do With Your Dash?
That thing on your tombstone?
That dash?
That’s your life.
“Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?” the poet Mary Oliver asks.
You have gifts and talents that are unique to you, that only you can share with the world.
Your art; your writing; your work; your message.
Your smile; your healing hands.
There are people you are meant to serve in the world… many of whom are in pain; many of whom are needy and weary and alone.
And those people? They’re waiting for you… waiting for your gifts. Waiting for you now.
Mother Teresa said, “Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love.”
Do the work you’re called to do.
Make your dash your masterpiece.
The Question You Should Never Ask (Especially In Bed)
There’s a bad question; a very bad question.
A question you should never, ever ask… especially if there’s something important that you want to accomplish.
(And… especially in bed.)
You think that you need to be motivated to take action.
But motivation is whimsical.
Act.
And never, ever entertain that bad question.
