Grow & Scale A Business That Will Set You Free
Wishing Won’t Make It So
When was the last time you said, “I wish I could brush my teeth?”
Unless you have no teeth, I venture to guess that the answer is “never.”
Because, when want to brush your teeth, you brush them. Wishing is not part of the equation.
Yet, for some reason wishing shows up way too often.
As in…I wish I were fit; I wish I could lose weight; I wish I could write a book; I wish I could have a new career; I wish I could launch an online program; I wish I could run a marathon; I wish I could make more money… .
I wish… .
But… wishing won’t make it so.
If you’ve made it this far into today’s message, I know something about you: You are someone who makes things happen. It’s part of your DNA.
If you look back over the course of your life, I’d bet that anything that you really, really wanted to do, you did… you figured out a way to make it happen.
Your “want to” trumped the “how to.”
And… wishing wasn’t ever part of the equation.
Connect again with what it is you really, really want…and then take deliberate action.
Slow, steady, consistent steps will take you there.
Don’t forget to brush your teeth along the way.
Shooting Your Salmon
Who wouldn’t want to shoot their salmon through a cannon?
There are a lot of days when having a salmon cannon would be great.
“Don’t wish it was easier: wish you were better,” the great thought leader Jim Rohn once said. “Don’t wish for fewer problems: wish for more skills. Don’t wish for less challenge; wish for more wisdom.”
Your work is to show up every single day and solve new problems; to welcome new opportunities; to co-create the masterpiece that is your life.
Despite the obstacles.
And even though you have no salmon cannon.
Because there are people who are waiting for those gifts and talents that only you can share.
I Can Save You Thousands
People are spending thousands of dollars and euros on their vacations.
And they don’t have to.
It seems that “Simplicity is the ultimate luxury as travelers search for new ways to unplug,” reports The Wall Street Journal. “The promise of escaping everyday life has always lured vacationers. But now people whose daily routines are consumed by digital demands and distractions are going to ever-greater lengths to do nothing in the middle of nowhere.”
There’s a place in Oregon that sits on top of a fire tower overlooking a meadow. It’s got no Wi-Fi, no TV or clocks. Or bathrooms. It’s $200 a night. It’s an hour from the nearest anything… and you can’t get in… even if you wanted to…
Because it’s fully booked… and has a waiting list 300 names long.
And, there are a lot of places springing up all around the world… places deep in the woods, in the arctic, up high on cliffs… where you can “get away from it all…”
And… we want to get away from it all… because…
We live in a culture of overwhelm… we’re inundated by emails, text messages, notifications and alerts.
We always on. Never off.
And we’re weary.
Now… you could get on the waiting list for that tower place.
Or… you could turn off your phone and pop it in your drawer.
Your vacation is just a moment away.
How Badly Can I Piss You Off?
It had no hubcaps.
And was pretty badly beaten up.
But when we arrived, it was as if we were driving a Bentley.
Artificial intelligence can now give you the exact data you need to determine how little you need to do in order to keep a client
But… in my humble opinion… the minimum standard of care should not be how far you can go before you lose that client or customer.
Rather, your benchmark ought to be how much delight you can bring to the relationship.
“I’ve learned that people will forget what
Make your people feel like royalty.
Taking Out The Trash When You’re Dead
We get asked one question more than any other: WHEN will “it” be done?
“It” being the business building, the program development, the launch sequences.
“It” being the writing process, the learning curve, the networking, the relationship building.
I have some bad news to share with you… news that I’ve actually verified in the cemetery:
The bad news is also the good news.
Your business (and your life) are iterative.
You “get to” wake up every single day and create anew.
You “get to” make this gift that is your life your masterpiece.
You’re never done.
And that’s a good thing.
