Grow & Scale A Business That Will Set You Free
Be Still. And Know.
Your superpower is nearer than near.
But I bet you steer clear of it.
Perhaps you even avoid it.
All of us are inundated with emails, text messages, notifications, and alerts; with the siren call of social media; and the constant barrage of news and talking heads.
We bump along the surface of things.
With way too much coming at us… All… Of… The… Time.
It’s tempting to dwell there on the surface because it feels exciting (even though it’s exhausting.)
When we dwell there, it feels important.
We feel significant.
And, in those rare moments when we stop and disconnect, we worry that we’ll be missing out.
Yet what you’re really missing out on is that connection with your true self. Your creativity; your humanity; the real source of your resilience and tenacity.
In the stillness is your power.
Go there.
Shitty Stories
Across the millennia, we’ve transmitted our histories, our theologies, and our traditions through stories.
Gathered around fires in caves, at kitchen tables, and sitting at the side of a bed, we’ve told stories.
We are a people of story.
It’s hardwired into our DNA.
But… most times we tell rather shitty stories about ourselves. I know I do.
Moods are passing; feelings are fleeting.
Press on.
And tell better stories.
She Called Me A Dick Wagger
She called me a dick wagger.
It hurt my feelings. But I knew she was only trying to help.
And… if truth be told… she was right.
As a culture, we’re weary.
Weary of feeling scattered.
Weary of the distraction.
Weary of the superficial.
We crave presence. We crave the real.
In order to do the work you’re meant to do in the world, people need to see you.
Not the fake you, not the guru you, not the social media you.
The real you.
Connect. Be present. Be really present.
What a rare gift and precious gift that is.
Hacking Your Obituary
Everyone loves a good hack.
Here’s how to hack your own obituary.
Now, you don’t need to wait until you read yours on the front page of the newspaper. Nor do you need to win a Nobel prize.
But you do need to be mindful and intentional.
Because you have the opportunity… the privilege… dare I say the responsibility to co-create this gift that is your life.
Your get to write the obituary. If you choose.
About My Pickle
I want to tell you about my pickle.
Well, it wasn’t exactly my pickle, which was the problem from the get-go.
One of my very favorite business books is Bob Burg’s “The Go-Giver.” If you don’t have it in your business library, run out and get it. It’s a wonderful parable about a struggling young salesman. The lesson is: The more you give, the more you will be open to receive. Or as Zig Zigler said, “You will get all you want in life if you help enough other people get what they want.”
To be truly successful, the giving comes first.
Be generous with your pickles. Come from an abundance mindset.
