Creating the Work & Life You LOVE

You’ve Been Robbed

You’ve been robbed. And you may not even know it.

Embezzled may be a better word. Because it’s all rather sneaky and pernicious.

These things that were meant to serve us too often steal from us.

Our time.

Our ability to reflect.

Our ability to do deep work.

Our connection with one another.

Stand guard.

Make Believe

We like to pretend.

That’s there’s time.

Time to follow our hearts; time to fulfill our dreams.

Time to connect and catch up; time to mend the fence.

Time to write the book; time to make the art.

Time to launch the business; time to share the message.

But.

There is no time.

All we have is now.

Tomorrow is promised to no one. And no one gets out alive.

So then.

“Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?” the poet Mary Oliver asked.

What will you do today?

What Is Your Definition?

What is your definition of success?

$30 million in the bank?

A villa in Tuscany?

A 60′ yacht?

A published book?

Awesome health?

An amazing relationship?

Achievement junkies have a tendency to go after a goal, check the box, and then… go after the next one. Without stopping; without lingering; without acknowledging. Without any sense of appreciation or self-affirmation.

And the problem with having a thing or a bank balance as your measure of success is that it’s easy to keep moving the target further out… always wanting more… never really knowing if you’ve achieved “enough.”

There’s no “right” measure of success.

It’s just useful to know what it is for you.

So you don’t miss it.

This is really all there is

We are creators.

From the dawn of our humanity, we have created.

Art. Literature. Science. Mathematics.

The David. The light bulb. The Sistine Chapel.

Vaccines. Antibiotics. The super computer.

Even the Internet!

Creativity is hard wired into us.

And yet, there is so much that gets in the way.

There’s a great line in the spiritual text known as A Course In Miracles: Seek not for love; rather seek out the barriers to love.

Like love, creativity isn’t something that’s “out there.” It is part of our DNA.

The challenge is to seek out and overcome our creative barriers.

To reclaim our creative centers.

Because in the end, that’s what defines us.

the answer to this question is the only thing that really matters

The marketplace is chock full of vendors hawking their wares.

It’s just that time of year.

“Make 2019 your best year ever.”

“Buy my planner.”

“Discover how to turn your resolutions into SMART goals.”

“Join my accountability program.”

“Enroll in my 21 day challenge.”

And, yes, programs and products are great to ways to help you get stuff done. (We sell a bunch of them!) And, sure, tools, tips and strategies can really help.

But they’re all for naught without the answer to this one critical question…

If you really want something… if you have a burning desire… you’ll figure out how to make it happen.

The “want to” is always more important than the “how to.”

What do you really want?

Connect with that and you’ll be unstoppable.
